The Mercian Trust celebrates GCSE & Key Stage 4 results across all nine of its Sandwell and Walsall schools

Over 1,600 students from our nine schools in Sandwell and Walsall are collecting their GCSE and Key Stage 4 Technical and Vocational results today.

Students, staff, and families at Aldridge School, Q3 Academy Great Barr, Q3 Academy Langley, Q3 Academy Tipton, Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Queen Mary’s High School, Shire Oak Academy, The Ladder School, and Walsall Studio School & Sixth are coming together to open their results, celebrate their successes, and to consider their exciting next steps on their educational journey.

We are particularly delighted that disadvantaged students have achieved their best ever results within our Trust.  This embodies our commitment to social mobility and equitable education for all students across the communities that we serve.

More students eligible for Pupil Premium than ever before have gained high grades in their GCSE subjects and attainment gaps between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students have narrowed significantly across our Trust.

The vast majority of students will be choosing to continue their education at our Mercian Trust school sixth forms, with many others going on to high quality vocational courses at local colleges and training providers, or onto apprenticeships with local and national employers. We wish every student all the very best with their studies as they move on to the next stage of their learning journey.

For those students who are unsure of their next steps, we are providing high quality information, advice and guidance available in schools both on Results Day and beyond, to support them to their next destination.

Dan Parkes, CEO at The Mercian Trust, said, “I am really proud of our students’ fantastic achievements in their GCSE results. It is always a privilege to see the fruit of students’ hard work and dedication, and we celebrate their success today.

I also want to add my thanks to all our dedicated staff and school leaders who have tirelessly supported our GCSE students throughout their journey to reach this milestone.

As we congratulate our students, we also look forward to their continued growth and success, those who are remaining with our Trust in our school sixth forms and those who are leaving us at this stage to continue their studies at college or with an apprenticeship provider.   To our students: Congratulations on a job well done – I encourage you to grasp every opportunity now available to you!"
